We can carry them open here in Oregon. In fact, I went mountain biking with a friend who wore his S&W 40 on his shoulder holster. Got some interesting looks from other bikers :)

Re: Thousands Sign Petition to Make Texas an Open-carry State

I have always wonder if open carry is a good idea?? I don't want a passable attacker/Mugger to know what I have, I don't want him to be on the ready Cuz he knows I'm armed. You know the good ol element of surprise And then their is the police, I don't think they like seeing people with guns walking down the street. Because it is legal does not mean it's a good idea. I like concealed and the classes too get a CCW permit that I have. I can Carry most anywhere, Try going into Walmart open Carry I don't know what will happened but I don't think I want too fined out. I go all the time concealed no problem.
Open carry concealed carry, I would like to here opinions

Well Adys, err catfish.. I think that asshole Muhnay on the other forum said it best. So I will post what he/she had to say...

Let them carry out in the open. If a criminal is stupid enough to attack a person with a weapon strapped to them.. they are stupid enough to lie there bleeding to death from the new hole I put in them. As for cops, I think I would rather know you have a weapon, than have to ask myself does he/she has it concealed. If I see it, I know how to approach you and deal with you.

It would also be another way the state can tax us.. every two years I have to renew my Lic. with the state for my Class 3. I think its a good idea to do the same with anyone who wants to carry out in the open. I worry about the people who are gonna think they are super cops and try to save the world when they have no business doing so.. or training to do so. But hey maybe we'll get lucky and this will help lighten the stupid population some.

I just would be afraid that if someone that knew I had a gun would sneak up and shoot me in the head. I have to think if they don't know I have one it gives me a edge. And I do understand what you are saying about the police it's a hard job.
