| Any Walla Wallans?
Okay, when in college, a good buddy of mine happened to be from Walla Walla --actually, Touchet (or the greater Walla Walla area). 1. How does a native pronounce "Walla Walla?" Or how do they know right away that you aren't from around there when they hear you say the name of their town? 2. How do you pronounce "Touchet" ? --'rocco |

Well, we're not getting much traffic on this thread. Okay, the way a Walla Wallan knows that a person is an outsider is if they pronounce it with the accent on the second "walla." It's WALLA walla, not walla WALLA as most would pronounce it. --'rocco |

| Re: Any Walla Wallans? ![]() Yes, we have a winner. That's the one I was thinking of. The Washington State Penitentiary at Walla Walla. How many famous killers can you name that have been incarcerated there? --'rocco |

for me the most famous executed was Charles Campbell. One major scumbag. Ted Bundy probably spent some time there and I would guess that the green river killer now makes this his home. Can't forget about Mitchell Rupe, ate himself so fat that they could not hang his lard.

I arrived in Seattle in fall 1974, when the Ted scare was just beginning to ramp down. I have never since been in in environment of such fear. Young college women were packing heat (and we're talking .357's, not .38's), and well-meaning college men had it shown to them. | |
