Washington NEW prescription card

Washington State and Oregon have formed a regional drug-purchasing consortium, to help drive down costs, for their citizens.

Any WA State citizen can sign up for a state prescription drug card, that is designed to save 20% on brand-name drugs, and 60% on generic drugs.

The card is free, and there are no other eligibility requirements. It's for anyone without drug coverage, or whose insurance plans don't cover all prescription drug needs. The card will be accepted at pharmacies at Safeway, Albertson's, QFC, ShopKo, Fred Meyer, Bi-Mart or Hi-School Pharmacy. The card can also be used, to order prescriptions by mail.

Sign up is via web site, www.rx.wa.gov, or phone 1-800-913-4146.

Governor Christine Gregoire requested this, from the Legislature, last year, and it just passed. YAY, Governor Gregoire! YAY, WA

This is exceptionally good news for the people of Earth.
I have not been able to find an OR site as of yet.
Question: Walgreen's has a discount card - can the new card be used in conjunction with that? Or with other discount cards from retailing pharmacies?

Sorry, I don't know. Walgreen's wasn't on the list of participating pharmacies...but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks Wendy. I realize I could've read that part. I'm just wondering if the program will run in conjunction with other programs and discounts - but again - I bet if I just take a few and read the site, I'll find out.
