I'm moving to Seattle and will be working in Bellevue, where should I live?

My sister reccommends Belltown but I've never lived in the city. I'm worried about noise, traffic and parking and my safety as a single gal. I've been looking at places in Bellevue. I am so confused now that I have seen so many places and just can't pick a neighborhood. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I lived in Seattle and worked in Bellevue from 1994-1997; we lived in Eastlake (between Downtown and the U District) and it was the perfect location...quiet, easy to get to, centrally-located. We were very happy there, and with the city itself...you're in for a treat! Try checking out Capitol Hill (off the main drag, or the traffic'll kill you), Wallingford, or Freemont (Fremont? Now I can't remember...), as well.

If I were you, I would NOT live in the suburbs...it's the city that has the charm! I was nervous, too, at first, but you'll LOVELOVELOVE it; you won't want to leave (if you can stand the drizzle, that is)!

Good luck!

Bellevue is one of the nicest areas around seattle. Stay away from apartments around the "crossroads" neighborhood. Otherwise, I would stick to places in Bellevue, Redmond or Kirkland. With traffic the way it is, living any farther out would make you have a terrible commute.

If you are on a tighter budget than the "Eastside" (east side of lake washington) allows, then try south Bellevue or Issaquah. Pretty much any place will be nice.
