Tallest Skyscraper West of the Mississippi

Seattle had the tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi. The Smith tower in Seattle was the tallest during the first part of the 20th century. Complete in 1914. I can be seen in many shots from both safeco and Quest field.

Re: Factoids About Washington

Hmm, had to look that one up. It looks like they cheated.... "lets just add this thing to make it the tallest." That, or their budget got cut so they had to take out some square footage, but keep the same height.

Oh, you oregonians always get a bit green with envy when we out do our friends to the south. :) Of course cheating is allowed... many of the tall towers out there add extra feet by putting these huge radio towers on top. chicago's sears towers come to mind.

Do you know what Seattle's current tallest building is?

The tallest building in Seattle is the 76-story Columbia Center, which rises 937 feet (286 m) and was completed in 1985.
