| Puget Sound Traffic congestion
While the Puget Sound area is beautiful, one of the ugly parts of living here is the traffic. During rush hour, traffic can be at a standstill on all freeways surrounding seattle and the eastside. Figure that living within 20 miles of Seattle will create a commute that will be around an hour. Seattle has three main freeways. If you live north of seattle, I-5 is the main freeway. This connects you with North King County and South Snohomish county an beyond. To have an hour commute or less, you should not live north of Lynnwood. To the east of Seattle you have two choices, 520 to the north side of the city and I-90 to the south. SR 520 crossed Lake Washington to Bellevue, then continues east to Redmond, passing by the Microsoft campus. To keep to an hour commute, most homes in Bellevue and redmond are within this range. curving north toward Woodinville is starting to stretch it. The south access via I-90 takes you through south Bellevue, factoria, Newport then Issaquah. Any home in these areas, other than Issaquah will be within one hour, but there are parts of Issaquah and south Redmond are beyond the hour commute. Dirving south takes you down I-5 past rainier valley, tukwila, renton and Kent. Most homes on the west side of hwy 167 are within a hour, many areas on the east side of hwy 167 are not. The best bet for the Seattle area is to find your work location, then find your home.

You know Duff I still have to say it is all relative... compared to what I came from in So Ca the traffic here is mild.

The site I use for approximately real time traffic info is http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/. In particular, being able to punch up the cameras at specific points can be ... handy.

Good Gawd! Could somebody do something about the traffic on 405???!! Well, I'm back in town and tried to go from the Bellevue area to Renton Highlands at around 2:15 this afternoon and traffic seemed like it was 5:15! Jeez, now I remember why I moved away. *calms self down* but the rain is refreshing :rolls eyes: (right!)--'rocco |

Would it be better to bail on 405 at coalcreek and go the back way?
