| Washtucna
jabm brought up Washtucna so I thought I'd expand that topic a bit and see what responses we get. Washtucna is familiar with any Cougar who comes to Pullman from the westerly direction. Everytime I've driven to Pullman, I often think how life would be to live in Washtucna. Contrary to most others, I've always thought it was a nice little town. Those WSU alums from the "coast" always bash it for one reason or another. Any thoughts? Those of you who live there now or who have lived there, what's up with that place? --'rocco |

doesn't seem to be a lot there... really wide open unlike the pine foresty areas I like... http://www.washtucna.com/ if you go to the images you can get a feel of the place.

As I say, it's a familiar spot on the road for any WSU student or alum coming from west of the Cascades because it's on what's considered the most direct route to Wazzu. Yup, you and me differ there. I really like wide open places and dislike the pine foresty areas. I guess we should get into a fist fight and call each other some names because we disagree.*tsk* Maybe I should put you on "ignore" because we don't see eye-to-eye on this issue. --'rocco

The Black Hills area is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. One year, while traveling from Minnesota to Montana, I was amazed at how gorgeous western North Dakota was...I guess it's all relative! I don't care for a lot of trees, either...well, except palm trees.

But seriously, you'll find a night and day difference between the area west of the Cascades and that of the east side of the mountains. Most on their first trip to WA can't believe it's the same state. --'rocco

Back in the days when I lived in Pullman (but the extended family was largely on the west side of the Cascades), we drove through Washtucna frequently. I was kinda sad when the drive-in store on the highway closed ... they were among the last places I knew that had chocolate soft-serve ice cream.
