What is the most cost effective way to move from Madison, WI to Atlanta?

I'm moving in the next few weeks to Atlanta from Madison. I need to bring the contents of my fully furnished 2 bedroom townhouse and my car. I also have 2 kids. I will probably drive somehow. I am on a VERY limited budget, as I am leaving to get away from an abusive relationship. Any ideas on how to do it cheaply would be appreciated.

Rent a U-Haul (Just guessing, but seems to be logical).
