Have you ever been to Arizona? Do you already have a job there? If you have never been, I would visit first and find an area you like. Tucson is beautiful and growing like crazy. There are many steps in moving. Selling your house(not a sellers market right now). Buying a new house. Getting a new license, easy in AZ. So many more, not really sure what you are asking. I have a house in Tucson, if you have questions I would be happy to help you. |

I'm living in the Phoenix Valley right now and moved here from the Midwest several years ago. I've moved around in the city a lot, because I chose bad locations early on. If you like going out at night or more activity, don't live in the West Valley as it can be a bit dull. I'd recommend the following: -Tempe: Good mix of college town, jobs, nightlife and suburban conveniences -Downtown Phoenix: This area is gentrifying and the coolest restaurants and art venues are here. Things change block to block in this area, so it's definitely something you'll want to check in person before committing. -Scottsdale: Has lots of clubs and places to spend money. It gets a bad rap for people living outside of their means there and being a bit shallow. However, my materialistic friends refuse to live anywhere else. If that's you and you aren't shy about admitting that, it'd be a good fit. Getting a license is easy (though car registration can be a little pricey compared to some places). Apartments for Rent and Homes for Rent is decent for apartment reviews and craigslist is a good spot to look for sublets and rentals. Finding a job here isn't too bad. Craigslist is good for that as well, but you should check out indeed.com for job searches if you're looking for work. It searches Monster, Career Builder, Craigslist, etc. all at once and is way easier than going through each job site individually. |

I am going through a similar situation,, Ohio to Nevada. I have been to Reno about 6 times so I know the city well. I would take a trip to AZ, decide which city/area you want to live in. Research places to live there and also look for jobs. it would be nice if you could get a job before you move there. Maybe send resumes/letters a few weeks before visiting and set up interviews/meetings so when you visit you can interview and hopefully walk away with a job. Next, look into moving companies. I was quoted about $3,000 for my distance, so do your homework and be prepared. Also, go through your home/apt and start cleaning/sorting. Take only what you need. Also, plan out your drive to AZ, routes, weather, hotel stays, gas $. Also look into what you will need when you get there: new DL, register your car, address changes, new bank, etc.......check these out: Apartments for Rent and Homes for Rent, Apartments.com - Free Nationwide Apartment Search with the Most Visual Rental Listings Online., Move.com. GOOD LUCK |
