Fires in Wyoming

We've got another one burning in an area that is only accessable by air.

The Bone Creek fire is at 13680 acres right now and only 25% contained. Bone Creek is along Hwy 14 between Burgess Junction and Shell Wyoming.

Pretty remote area. It closed down the Hwy yesterday when the fire jumped the highway. But the helo's watered both sides of the road endlessly all afternoon yesterday and during the night. They got the fire beat back enough to open the road again. This is good because that's the road the fire fighters have to use.

Tuesday, the smoke was thick in Sheridan and would make you cough being outside. The fire is about 80 miles away from Sheridan.

Re: Fires in Wyoming

Bone Creek fire is now only 35% contained after 8 days. They've increased the fire crew from 75 people last week to 204 fighting it today.

It's been sprinkling rain up there and as such, the fire has slowed considerably.

Yikes. You mentioned that it was about 80 miles from Sheridan...are the winds blowing it your direction? Hope not. Please keep us posted...hopefully it will die out soon.

Re: Fires in Wyoming

After 12 days, the Bone Creek fire is 95% contained. An added plus, it's raining today. Well, it's raining here, hopefully it's raining there too.
