Tracking Deer

I'm a pretty good tracker. I've got some deer tags left and I have to fill them by Friday. So I went tracking.

Doe, I can tell by the way she swings her feet. A buck will gather with his tracks, a doe will just swing forward. I found tracks of two doe's walking together. I tracked them for the better part of 10 minutes.

They came from the West and exited to the East. Their tracks come into my yard, around back of the house, past my 4 wheeler, and out the East end of the yard.

Shhhhhhhhhhsssss. I gotta be quiet. I'll use my crossbow so I don't wake the neighbors. Or maybe just use a big stick. They're standing about 8 feet from my deck. Muley's. Lot's of meat.

Re: Tracking Deer

You know what I can't figure out is the neighbor has two dogs in her yard. She leaves them out 24/7. A couple of ..... Well, they look like they've been chasing parked cars. Nose all smushed in. Pugs, that's what they are. They bark at the moon rising. But the deer don't care. They walk down the West side of the house. House, 8 feet, fence with pugs. It doesn't bother them. The deer just wander through and graze as their going. Dogs raising hell, oh well, the deer don't care.

Re: Tracking Deer

A few years back when I was rising beans , it was not uncommon to see any wear from 2 to 7 dear in the field feeding , I would chase them with the four wheeler , well they’d see you coming wait till you got about 50 ‘ away run up farther in the beans stop an look at ya about 150’ away an finish eating , had one in my raspberry patch just about ran him over before he would move. Some of um you could throw rocks at them.
