This is one of the more isolated counties in Wyoming. Thermopolis is like walking into an 1870's old-west town. I have some pics from a performance there one July 4th - but no scanner right now.
Hot Springs State Park has free-ranging Bison - you drive around and stay in your car (do not get out of the car). There are several hot-pools, some way too hot for skin and others you can walk in. They also have natural hot-tubs and a couple of major motels right at the park which also have natural hot-tubs. It's about 20 miles north of the Wind River Reservation northern boundaries if I recall correctly. You have access to Cody NW, Buffalo NE and Riverton is to the south.
The hardware store was for sale about 7 years ago - for something like 100 grand and the building was absolutely ancient. There are several neighborhoods in Thermopolis but really, McDonald's is about the biggest thing going. It's "Cowboy Country" as well.

So 30K would be normal there than? Second Vacation home. Taxes cheaper than timeshare. LOL

Here are some links to Thermopolis area real-estate:

http://www.windrivercountry.com/real...al_estate.html

At first listen, 30G seems low - but must remind you that we once bought a 2BR log cabin on 2/3 acre in SW Wyoming for 10G! With a small stream running though it.

here's the last one.

Yes, that's a standard Chain Link fence.

Nice drift, Fitty-Three. Down in mid-Utah where snow-levels are unpredictable but the cold is totally predictable, they often spray down their chain-link fences and get great lengths of patterned ice. Quite pretty.
As for your place - looks like you had to shovel your way out the door ... again. This pic oughtta be on the "Are you sure you wanna move to Wyoming" threads.
For the record though, I have also seen snow like this in the PA mountains.

Wow...53 that is one big pile of snow. It is always so pretty to look at...but who wants to go out in it? You do get extreme weather in your area...don't you? Looks like xmas in the north pole. When was the pic taken?

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Blizzard was 30 March. It was all good. I shoveled my deck about 6 times that day. Finally gave up and drank a beer. haha

Ground was warm and it melted in two days. Wyody would know how that works. At that time of year, it just don't last long. But it was well needed moisture because we've been in a drought for 6 years. This finally put some moisture where it was needed.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Beautiful spring days lately. Today it was in the upper 70's after hitting 39 last night. No wind, partly cloudy.

Weatherman says "Warning, Severe weather in your area, 70+ winds, damaging hail, brutal lighting."

Again, it's partly cloudy, no wind, I've been watering my lawn cause I don't think it will rain.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Last couple of days, it's been chilly and raining.

Was lucky, finished seeding my garden and was stringing hose when it started raining. But it's been a good even, light rain. Good soaker.

Course, then the temp dropped. Today, the high was 46. We have snow down to about 5000 ft. Weatherman said 6000 ft, but he's 200 miles from here. I can see it. It's at 5000 ft. haha

Tomorrow is supposed to start warming up again.

This is sleeping weather. Open the window about a foot and pull up the blanket. From the sun, the house heats enough that it's about an even 70 in here. At night, the temp in the house is about 60. No furnace, no air, just the right time of year.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

The weatherman lied. Like that's never happened. haha It warmed up on Thursday and it was a fairly nice day. But today is overcast, raining lightly and it's almost noon and only 46 degrees.

Supposed to be nasty all holiday weekend.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

It's 2am. Wind is howling but it's still 70 degrees. People canceled their plans for camping this weekend. Course, there's 18 inches of snow on top. Here in Sheridan, it's nice. Temp in the 70's. A little windy, but no clouds.

It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood. It's 64 degrees at noon. A few fluffy clouds up high, no wind. Darn, I should be fishing.

Howling and raining today. Only 48 degrees. You'd think it would be warmer on the last day of May.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Been raining and cool all week. My lawn needed mowed 5 days ago. Today it quit raining, but everything is still soggy.

Today is the highest the temp has been all week It's 63 degrees.

It's hard to coax a garden along when it's chilly. But if I don't get it going now, nothing will ripen during the growing season.

Weatherman said, high 20's for temp tonight. Wonder if I have room to bring the garden inside? It's all in planters. Cucumbers, peas, radishes, jalapeno peppers, cayenne peppers, carrots, more jalapeno plants. Gotta can this year and get ahead of the salsa.

Last year I canned peppers and I cut it close. I only have two jars left and my pepper plants are only about 8 inches tall. I'll end up buying peppers to tie me over.

Been a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Upper 70's. High whispy clouds. No rain.

Now let's talk about utilities. haha I got my "Gas and Electric" bill in. They are all one. 1600 sq feet. I actually had to pay $87.77 for both, last month. Cheaper energy, come to Wyoming.

Wow, Wyoming! That's very good! We've had the a/c on (avg temp 75) since February and our gas and electric total about $120 a month, so far. I'm guessing it will probably go up a bit within the next few months.

I've been sweating, I have the fans going, but I'm bound and determined to keep that bill low. hahahahaha

I have central air, but I refuse to start it. I'm saving energy, and hurting every minute. hahaha

In Sheridan Wyoming, we had the most spectacular day I can ever remember in my life. Beautiful sky, temps in the 70's. And then a phone call. OMG. It was a spectacular day.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Two days of rain. Yesterday was funny. We had a "Winter Storm Warning". Yup, the 6th of June and we're being threatened with snow. They got about 14 inches up on top. At the same time, we also had a Tornado watch. Actually had one touch down. Wasn't sure if we were having a blizzard, or moving to Kansas. But we survived. Wind, rain, a little bit of snow, some funnel clouds. Just drank a beer and watched it all.

Today is a little nicer. Although it's windy, had a bit of rain, the sun is finally coming out and it's warming up. Currently 54 degrees with a mild wind. Garden hates life. haha

Now we've had two days of beautiful sunshine. Got up to 80 yesterday. Not sure what it's going to do today. Clear sky's, no wind. So far it's 55 degrees at 8 in the morning. Will probably hit 80 today. We'll see.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

A few days of heavy rain and they closed down I-90 going from Sheridan to Billings Montana.

But ohhhhhh, is it green around here.

Today was about 78 degrees, partly cloudy, no wind and a beautiful drive up to Billings and back.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Today was completely nasty.

It was 80 degrees, absolutely no wind, partly cloudy. It was pure hell mowing the lawn.

I keep seeing people asking about the wind in Wyoming. We have nothing here. Sure, there's times that it blows. But what place don't?

I try and keep a running story about the weather so that people can understand what's going on in Sheridan. I've lived all over Wyoming and this, by far, is the most wonderful place I've lived.

Darnit man. I did it tonight. 3 nights ago, it was 44 degrees. Tonight, I started my central air. Today was in the 90's, tomorrow is supposed to hit 100 and Saturday is supposed to hit 105. So I hit the switch and the central air is now on. Life is good. haha

So, 53, this is the part when I mention that our daytime temps are sweltering at sometimes close to 70 degrees ... today only 60. Night-times near 50 - and except for a couple of days a summer, that's as hot as it gets.
However, I did turn my sprinklers on yesterday as it hadn't rained for almost 2 weeks. Rained last night. Go figure.

It hit 100 today. Partly cloudy, no breeze what so ever. Boy did the central air feel good. Went outside once to see how it was. Took me about a minute to get back in and slam the door shut.

All week has been hot. Upper 80's to lower 90's. Right now it's 85 and it's noon thirty. Tomorrow is supposed to top 100.

Partly cloudy and I mean really partly. Very few clouds. Perfect 4th of July. Will take the mellon out of the fridge about 4 and bust it open for the kids. Course, grandpa will have to have some too.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

We had about 5 days of 100+ temps. No rain, no thunder boomers and then Saturday, we got hit with a bad one. 70+ winds and penny sized hail. Then it got hot again til about Tuesday and a cool front moved in. Now we are enjoying 83-85 during the day and low 50's at night. Supposed to get hot again starting on Saturday. Mid 90's. Sun, upper 90's. Monday even warmer yet.

Things are real dry right now. We had a really terrific wet spring and all of a sudden the moisture stopped. Grass is burning up and everything is turning brown. Bought right for this time of the year.

Today, it was 99 degrees. Absolutely no wind. No clouds. The water park felt pretty good.

Weather man said, "Today was hot, but watch out for tomorrow because we'll be having a cold snap." Then he posted tomorrows expected temps. We're supposed to be 98 degrees. haha

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Yesterday it hit 96 and we had one cloud that gave it's all and dropped about 47 drops per square foot. Shower lasted about 20 seconds. 5-7 mph winds.

Today, we only hit 91. No clouds. Although it is a very breezy no miles per hour. zero. Weather vain is pointing straight North.

Where is all that wind that everybody blames Wyoming for?

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

I had to open my mouth.

Yesterday was 94 for a high and we had 15-20 mph winds all day. In the evening, a thunderboomer boiled up just south of us by about 15 miles and dumped a lot of rain and hail on Buffalo. Plus, the storm generated a Tornado. Luckily it was in wide open areas. We're talking the ranch houses out in that area are 15 miles apart. No damage reported that I know of.
