Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Well, let's see how I'm doing on that ol' "Gee, I miss Wyoming" chapter:
Here at the coast, it's been over 70 twice ... quite uncomfortable. We went 10 days without rain so, in late June, I turned the sprinkling-system on ... rained regular ever since then ... but it's rain you can walk in - still need the blanket at night. Mornings are smooth but cool - only cooled down to the upper 50's the last couple of nights.
So, yeah, miss cooking in the daytime Wyoming summer. Uh-huh.
No real thunder-bumpers though ... kinda miss that - watching those clouds grow upward at faster than 10,000ft per second. I think I've heard thunder once since February.
It's great to have these updates 53. Good Man.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Thanks Wyody,

Sounds like a terrible mess of weather your having.

No wind today. 0. Tomorrow is supposed to be 0 wind. How ever, we're going to hit triple digits.

I bought a new Black 4 Wheeler. Thought the black looked nice. However, I now carry a towel with me in my pack on the back. When I stop at a store, I put the towel on the seat so the black upholstery doesn't get hot and burn me. I wear shorts almost year round. Maybe this winter it will feel better to sit on a warm seat, but right now it sucks. haha

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

53, you remind me of a time ... about 20 yrs ago. I was working the "outbacks" of Nevada and of the Mojave. Riding a series of 3 & 4-wheelers ... all with black seats! I had to hop off of them things all day and blister my hide getting back on in the heat - not much for wearing clothes myself at 100+ degrees ... however ........

Well now, isn't that some dandy piece of work! Got a TV? (all ATVs should have TVs). One of the dang-handiest things you can have in Wyody ... along with the right snow-machine.
Must ask ... not to split hairs ...you said "Here She is" but also said "He gets a little toasty" ... so is this bad boy a girl? Or is this ship a He?
Really handy come firewood time.
Thanks for the pic.

Obviously a typo. It's a she. I crawled under and looked.

I'm trying to find a good trailer for it. Not to haul it, but to haul fire wood with it. Course, if I get creative, I can probably get one trailer and use it to haul the 4 wheeler and also put in on behind the 4 wheeler to haul wood.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Fitty-Three, I'll make a suggestion just in case you haven't already done it or thought of it:
Trailer your 4-wheeler to a good working site near your wood. Drive the 4-whlr, go get your deadfall or cut your tree - then drag it back to your truck & work area with a chain or strap. Cut & cord your wood right there & toss it on the truck - then trailer your 4whlr back home. It is definitely getting "about that time"!

There is a problem with that, let me explain. We have several designated 4 wheeler/motorcycle trails in the Big Horns now. Where you have to leave your pickup has been picked pretty clean in the surrounding area. But if I hook onto the trailer and take it back into the trails 3 or 4 miles. Wood is plentiful. A bit far to drag.

Oh, I could probably find a different place to get wood. But this area is very beautiful and harvesting the downed would would clean it up and make it look even better.

Here's what I've built up just this summer.

Well Yeah - that sounds like a bit of a problem. I see you have enough wood for the first cold Thursday or so. Do you put fire-crackers in your woodpile so it'll wake you should it catch fire?

No, that's just my fodder for starting fires in the fireplace. The serious wood gets stacked up by the shed. haha But there ain't none there yet. haha

Bought a new chainsaw about a month ago. Haven't even yanked on the rope to see if it'll run. 18 inch Poulan. Matter of fact, I just filled it with gas and filled the chain oiler yesterday. haha

Sunday, 7-22. It tied the two messages together again so I went back in and edited so you could see I was reporting Sundays wether.

Weather man missed his mark. He said, 103+. We only got up to an even 100. No rain clouds, just high wispy. Wind was 5 mph with one gust up to 9 mph. Actually, a little warm but a very beautiful day.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

We had a storm front move through last night. It got a little windy. This stack of wood went through 70+ mph winds two weeks ago. I don't know what it hit last night but myself and the neighbors were setting outside enjoying the evening. We didn't think it got too bad, but evidentally it did.

That front brought cooler weather. Todays high is only supposed to be 86. Possible severe thunderboomers this afternoon.

Well, it hit 79 with a wind gust up to 11 mph. Pretty nice day. Got all my wood restocked, visited my neighbors, watered my garden. That' was Sherididan Wyoming on 25 July 2007.

Hi 53,

Did you ever get all healed up? Is your son back in town yet? Let's compare weather. Valley Springs, ca will be 101 today.:) We plan to stay in doors and go to the pool later.

I've got to find firewood this year. We cut down two oak trees last year and it's all gone. Cheaper to buy it now...before it gets chilly and everyone is buying.

Izzy,

It's currently almost noon and it's 78 degrees. Supposed to hit a high of around 86. The low last night was in the mid 50's. My leg is hurting so there's a thunderboomer coming in. Humidity is 27%. Wind is at 0 but we did have a nasty gust up to 8mph earlier.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

I don't know if we can take it today. Humidity is 40%. haha

We had a low of 58 last night. Today it's supposed to hit 88 or so. There's not a cloud in the sky. Well, yes there is. Some really high whispy ones. Wind is howling at about 2 mph. We did have a strong gust up to 4 mph.

I'll Trade with you. Yesterday it was 94 here and so humid the EPA put out air quality warnings as the humidity made it so you could smell the ozone and you could only see for about 18 mile almost like fog or smog but it was just humidity. Storm never broke though. Normally when it is like that we get nice thunder storms by days end. They even For-casted hail but it never happened.

Now see, there's a reason I live here. haha Weather has been absolutely beautiful here. The cold nights, open a window and go to sleep. Pull the covers up and sleep like a baby.

It's funny here in NH. We can go from -35 below in winter to 104 for a high in summer. Talk about fluctuation.

Same here, I've seen -58, no windchill. We don't count wind chill because it's based on how it feels on bare skin. Seeings how we don't run around naked, we don't count it. haha Then that same year, we hit 104 degrees. Ya gotta love it.

Drizzle. No wind. High today was only 74. Lows tonight supposed to 50 or less. Kind of looks like that's how the rest of the week is going to be.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

For the third week in August, it's been chilly. Wonder if it's indicitive of what's to come this winter.

All week, we've had a cool front stuck over us. High 60's to low 70's in the daytime and down into the 40's to low 50's at night.

The stalled front is now moving so today it come up a little and we were in the low 90's. Humidity was 55% but the low tonight is supposed to be 43. Highest wind gust today was 16mph.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

The weather held up through the weekend and up until last night. Wednesday evening she got a bit windy. Typical of a front moving through. Winds only stir'd at about 34-35 mph for an hour. Then it was cooler.

Today, the high is 72. Winds are mild at less then 10mph. A few minutes ago it started raining.

I hate this time of year. haha It's going to rain and drizzle and the grass is going to keep growing and then it's going to freeze. Then when you mow, all you can do is shatter the lawn. haha Actually, it'll warm up in a few and we'll be able to mow about one more time. Maybe twice if we're lucky.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Everybody always says that everywhere in Wyoming is windy. I think you've noticed by my posts that that is not the case in Sheridan.

However, today, I would say it's a windy day. We've been getting 25 mph winds since before lunch. A couple of gusts up to 36 mph. But still nothing too bad.

Went to sleep last night it was 76 degrees and every window in the house was open. Woke up at 5am and it was 41 degrees and raining. By 7am it was up to 43 degrees. Now it's 9:30 and it's a blistering 46 degrees. The high for today is supposed to be 58.

Got a fire in the fire place. Time to stick a movie in the DVD.

Well, the weather man has a promising forcast. Tonights prediction is "Snow down to the 6000 ft level." I live at 4000 ft. So I'll be able to look a mile up the road and see the white stuff, but there won't be any at my house to shovel.

However, we have a 5th wheel up on top that we use for camping. It's only at about 9500 ft. Might be hard to move it next weekend.

See, in Wyoming, out in the Big Horn Mountains, you are allowed to have a camp, either tent or trailer, out in the timber. But you can only have it set up for 2 weeks at a time and then you have to move it, a minimum of 1/2 mile. So a lot of us set up a camp and go up every weekend. Every other weekend, we move it. Do that all summer and then about October 1, set it up where your going to hunt. They don't much pay attention to the 2 week rule once it snows heavy or during hunting season. Season runs from Oct 1- Nov 30 for rifle. The Archery guys are up there from Sept 1 on.

If it comes down that far, I'll get some pictures and post them.
