If it was along I-80, yup, wind was the thing. That's some of the most desolate country anywhere in the United States. Constantly blowing.

The memory from 35 years ago that still sticks in my head is...watching the elk climb over rocky ridges in herds. It was a beautiful sight.

This morning at 7am it was 34 degrees and no wind (Izzy, you paying attention? haha) no wind, no clouds. Looks like a beautiful day, just starting out a little chilly.

Been busy today. The picture about 5 messages back was the wood pile at 7 this morning. Here's the wood pile now. Just a maul and a wedge.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

I need to make a new grating before I put in coal. The grate is kind of burnt out and I don't trust it as it is.

Once I do that, I can get all the coal I want for free. My son works at the coal mine.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

The last couple of days, we hit mid 70's. No wind. Wait, I take that back. Yesterday we had a gust of wind that hit 7mph.

Today, it's only going to get into the low 50's and it supposed to rain. Hasn't yet, but it's overcast and looks like it could at any minute. Right now, it's 50 degrees, zero wind.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

We been in the 50's and 60's for a few days, mid 20's at night. Wind for a week has been calm. Till tonight. We have a "High Wind Alert" for Sheridan. But now I'm not sure cause the news just said we could expect 15 and 20 mph winds tonight. But my weather bug says "High Winds".

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Wind never developed like they said. Was 15-20 mph and we had one gust that hit in the 40's.

Today was in the 60's.

Thought it was funny. This morning's wake up temp was higher in Sheridan then it was in Jacksonville Florida.

Supposed to be nice tomorrow but come Sunday it's supposed to drop into the 20's at night with a 50% chance of snow on Monday.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

I was talking to a friend in Evanston this morning, in the South West Corner of Wyoming. He said the same thing. That blast back in ... was it September? ... and nothing.
Years like this, Fi'ty, I always hoped it'd snow by Thanksgiving again. Otherwise, it had a habit of not snowing 'til Christmas - then turning sub-zero without enough snow on the ground to insulate the foundations ... which means frozen pipes under the house. Hope you get your doses early.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Saturday night we had an occurance that I've never seen here before.

3am - snowing hard - 33 degrees - no wind
4am - not snowing - 68 degrees - no wind
5am - not snowing - 43 degrees - no wind

Was strange to see that. I couldn't believe it. I thought my weather bug had messed up. So I went outside. Nice and warm. Checked the thermometer in the truck, yup, 68 degrees.

Today is only supposed to reach temps in the upper 50's. No wind. But tonight is supposed to turn nasty. 28 degrees, winds 2-15, 70% chance of snow with accumulations of 2+ inches.

We'll see.

I think we should investigate the possibility of "voice" for your weather forecasts/updates.
How cool would that be?
And you could have other members do them for you as well - sort of like a "guest-host" now and then.
And now ... back to The Cowboy. .... Fi'ty?

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Yesterday, 11-20, we got 5 inches of snow. No wind.

This morning at sunup, it was 6 degrees. High today was 23 degrees. Tonight, the temp is dropping. At 6:30pm, at my house, it was 6 degrees. Supposed to get down to 0 or even below zero by morning.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

53, what's the forecast regarding more snow? Five inches isn't quite enough to protect things.
Sure drops the temperature though. Hang Tough - what a cool Thanksgiving - just like the old days.

We're still having flurry's now. Although there's not supposed to be much more accumulation.

Remember the old saying. Big flakes, little snow. Little flakes, big snow.

Right now we're having little flakes. But I think it's more frost falling then snow.

wracking my brain here ... don't know if I've ever heard that. Also don't believe it - but will give it to you.
Funny thing - we've had bunches of frost - nearly every night - some of it really thick - but the grass doesn't die! How un-western! Matter of fact, I'm still mowing - not so often at all but still mowing - just mowed a section yesterday! Grass doesn't die here. I try to explain to them how, in Wyody, you have to make sure the grass dies after Labor Day so that it doesn't die for good! They don't understand. I don't understand either way. Next job, I don't do the mowing - I don't freaking care! Happy T-Bird!

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

It was an old saying down in South Dakota. An old ndn once told me, "Heavy snow tonight". He was setting staring at the sky. I said, "really?" He said, "Yes, I read it." Thinking some old tribal custom, reading animals, leaves, the wind, etc. I just sat in awe for a minute. Finally he smiled and said, "Tonights paper, said heavy snow."

Well, imagine you'll make it outside again by April, anyway.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Kind of staying even keel. Upper 20's during the day, single digits during the night. No new moisture. Wind is 4mph although we had a gust of 23 mph today. Was a nice day. Sun shining, no wind, just chilly.

Let me dumb it down so everybody can understand. It was -10 this morning at 5am. Supposed to be 53 today. Big difference. Guess the snow will go away.

Yesterday, it was 60, no wind, bright and sunshiny.

Weatherman said, a little chillier and partly cloudy. he missed his mark. It's 27 and here's a picture of his "Partly Cloudy".

We're screwed. hahahaha

Weather man said 4-6 inches today. 8-10 tonight. More tomorrow.

But I like it. Me and my 4 wheeler will earn a tank of gas today and be able to repeat it tomorrow. haha

Looks like you'll have your white xmas. Good thing you insulated the place and got your firewood in. How's the electric bills...did the improvements make a big difference?

I haven't got a full month's bill yet. Next bill I get will tell the difference. But even the partial was way down from the old.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

So far, so good. We're on the edge of the storm. We got about an inch all night. No wind.

Course, if we got 10 inches and lots of wind, I'd be a happy camper.

But all we got is 1 inch.

5 degrees in Widespot Wyoming this morning. Was supposed to get snow yesterday and last night. Got 1 inch. So streets are a little slick, but should be chewed up and spit out today.

3 mph wind. Supposed to be a high of 28 today.
