It's snowing. May 9th and it's snowing. Weston county had a tornado. Sheridan, it's snowing. Just something not right about that. hahahaha It thundered a bit ago. Almost like the weather you folks had in the cascades last week.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Yesterday was our first really warm day. It hit 79 for a high. To us that felt like 100. Heated up the house so I had to have a couple fans running and it took til late in the evening to cool down the house.

It's 3am and it's still 65. But that's supposed to be the high for the day. Supposed to drop in temp all day long and should be in the 40's by late afternoon.

No wind, no moisture in store. Just have a cold front moving through. A couple days of cool weather and we'll start climbing up again.

You'll love this one. The Big Horn Mountains are currently under a "Snow Storm Watch." They expect 10-12 inches of new snow up on top today.

This is crazy today. Big Horn Basin and Big Horn Mountains are under "Winter Snow Advisory". Laramie and Cheyenne are under a "Tornado Watch".

Here. it's still 45 and raining.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Tornado touched down and tore up some of Laramie this afternoon. No reports yet on injurys or deaths.

Not often do you see tornado's at 7,200 ft in elevation.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Laramie is devastated. Tornado ripped up the Wal-Mart.

And now it's snowing in Laramie. Visibility is down to about 500 yards.

Not like I'm an expert about that part of the state - but I've only known visible tornadoes around Torrington/Wheatland, maybe Lusk so, I'm a bit surprised Laramie caught it. Trying to remember where the WalMart is. Anybody hurt?
Folks who don't know - for having the state University there, it's a surprisingly small town with it's best claim to fame being that you can take a shortcut to Denver from there! (or near there, anyway)

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Tornado's in Laramie are very rare.

Yesterday there were several tornado's reported around Wheatland area. That's more common.

No injuries or deaths reported other then some minor scrapes and scratches.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Today's a little better. 51 degrees, wind out of the NorthWest at 13. A little drizzle here and there.

It did rain earlier. I wanted to run to Wal-Mart at the other end of town. I ride a 4 wheeler as my primary transportation. It was drizzling just a little so I took off. About 2 minutes into the 20 minute drive, it started raining. It stopped when I got to Wal-Mart only to start again when I left to come home. Now it's just drizzling again. I got soaked. haha But, I guess that's why I got this nice rock fireplace. Got a big fire going and it feels pretty good. I'm about dry.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Although it called for rain today, we didn't get any.

Partly cloudy, a bit windy (19mph) and 56 degrees. Weather Guesser says it's supposed to start warming up later this week but they are calling for rain on Memorial Day and Tuesday.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

First off, I want to thank all the Vets for their time, effort, and dedication. Thank you.

On this Memorial day, I got up at 4:30 and it was 46 degrees, wind out of the NW at 9. Now it's 10:30 and it's 46 degrees, wind out of the NW at 9. Yes, the weatherbug is working. I've been watching and every now and then it dips to 45 and the wind changes slightly in direction. But for the most part, our weather is stuck. haha Forecast calls for rain but we haven't gotten any yet.

Forecast for tomorrow, 27 May.

Snow down to the 4000 ft level in the Big Horns. When do I get to put the snowshovel away?

The "Up" Side:
Usually, about now, any snowshovels that the hardware store or the WalMart have - and haven't sent back - are on sale.
This is good for the Wyomingite who has also been using the metal-strip on their shovel to chip away at the daily ice-formations ... it means you have a chance to buy next winter's shovel before this one is even over ... at a reduced price!
Just to mention, 53, I almost bought some ice-melt this winter that has now passed - but decided to stay with the bit of softener-salt left in the bag for the past 5 years ... but then, didn't need it.
Oh, btw, need a roommate? To help with the snow-shovelling?

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

So far this summer, we've had only one day that it hit 90 degrees. that was about a week ago.

Today, we're supposed to hit exactly 90 again. Wind is 15mph out of the North. Not a cloud in the sky.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

It's been "Run the air conditioner in the afternoon" weather.

At 9:45am it's 67 degrees, wind is 3 mph, humidity is 51%. Today it's supposed to hit 92 degrees. 92's not bad if you got some air circulating, but at 3mph it's not circulating fast enough.

No clouds, none expected.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Ok, so they lied to us again. Only hit 78. Wind rushed in and blasted us a 8 mph. Overcast and thinking about raining. It sprinkled for about 2 minutes but nothing serious.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Today, it hit 90. Can still see snow on the mountains so go ahead give me a bad time about 90. hahaha I can still go snowmobiling. haha Wind really tore us up today. 6 mph and we had a gust that hit 16mph.

This is Wyoming, everybody keeps talking about the wind. Well, just gotta learn to lean a little when you walk. haha

Been in the mid 90's with very few clouds. Although they have predicted evening thunderboomers, we haven't gotten any in about a week. Wind is 9 mph.

Re: Weather data for Wyoming

Near-Record heat in SW Wyoming all summer so far. While 90+ degree temperatures are not totally uncommon, this year is a little different because usually, it comes and goes in two or three bursts but it has been steady in '08 with only light winds.
Dry heat though - like always, almost. Almost tolerable. No rain in over a month. Fire danger high.
The old folks sit around and talk about the snow-pack. There's still snow up there in the Uinta Mountains which, even though they are situated in Utah, they're still thought of as Wyoming's SW mountains. Remember to leave your matches at home for a while.
